- Much like physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid teaches people SKILLS.
- The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course can be delivered face-to-face over 2 days or online with a 4 hour follow up session. This course is designed for adults only (18 years and over).
- The course teaches people mental health first aid skills using a practical ACTION PLAN to guide the support required as a first responder.
- The skills and training gained in a Mental Health First Aid course could save somebody’s life.
The mental health problems covered
- Depression
- Anxiety problems
- Psychosis
- Substance use problems
Mental health crises covered
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Non-suicidal self-injury
- Panic attacks
- Traumatic events
- Severe psychotic states
- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
- Aggressive behaviours
Course formats and costs
- $300 per individual for 12 hour face to face course delivered as either; a 2 day training package (6 hours per day), or as 4 separate modules (3 hours each).
- $220 for online MHFA course. This involves 6-8 hours of eLearning, followed by 2 x 2 hour follow up sessions. A hard copy of the manual is also provided to each participant.
- $180 per individual for the standard MHFA refresher course. This is 4 hours face to face training and extends Mental Health First Aid accreditation for an additional 3 years.
- School bookings welcomed.
- To become an accredited MHFAider, a course participant needs to pass an online Accreditation Assessment at the end of the training. This accreditation lasts for 3 years.
